Travis Head Reached Out to Ben Duckett Following Video Scrutiny
Head and Duckett have been on rival teams in the recent Ashes campaigns.
Aussie batter Travis Head disclosed that he reached out to English fellow opener Ben Duckett following a online footage surfaced purportedly showing the player in a intoxicated state before the Melbourne Test.
Reports indicated that players were consuming significant amounts of alcohol during a respite in the coastal resort of Noosa in the gap between the second and the third Tests.
One unconfirmed video led to heightened attention on the team and on Duckett personally.
"I get on with Ducky and reached out to see if he was doing okay," commented Head.
"We are all still people. What you do in your private life is your concern.
"I understand we live a high profile life and certain individuals are more high profile than others.
"In the end, it is a somewhat unfair but I don't believe there is any genuine problem."
Context of the Incident
The team's time in Noosa came after they had gone 2-0 down in the Ashes series following defeats in the first two Tests.
Multiple media outlets reported that some players were consuming alcohol for a significant portion of their time on the coastal break, in addition to on two earlier days in Brisbane.
Though they gave an improved showing in the next Test, they were defeated in Adelaide to concede the series to Australia.
Head's Take
Commenting following the visiting team's win in the fourth Test, Head added: "I felt envious.
"People has made a bigger deal than what it should have been.
"We have done the very same on earlier trips. I don't have an problem with it."
