The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future free from concern.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
