Work proceeded on the weekend to restore power in Kyiv, after strikes by Moscow.

Electricity had been recovered to more than 800,000 citizens by the weekend and the major private energy company stated the key efforts to recover electricity was complete though partial blackouts continued.

Anti-Aircraft Efforts and Drone Interceptions

Ukraine's defense forces intercepted or jammed fifty-four of seventy-eight enemy drones sent targeting the country overnight, the air force announced on the weekend.

The Russian defence ministry stated it intercepted forty-two UAVs from Ukraine over the country's airspace.

Cuba Refutes Allegations of Providing Troops to Ukraine

Havana on Saturday refuted American claims it has sent soldiers to fight in the Ukraine war, while affirming officials in Havana "do not have accurate details about individuals" participating "on their own" or "within the troops of either party".

The foreign ministry in the capital stated twenty-six Cuban citizens had been sentenced to prison terms varying between five up to fourteen years for mercenary activity since the autumn of 2023 when news spread of Cubans being dispatched to the battlefield in the conflict.
