Paceman Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Concerns.

'Serious blow' for the touring side as Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The touring camp reported the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "during the day".

The series decider in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

England have been without strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 while batting being one of only three English batsmen to reach double figures.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Yet, on the final ball of the fifth over, he delivered a variation to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
