LA Erupts in Celebration as Dodgers Claim Second World Series Championship
The City of Angels experienced widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Supporters worldwide joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a team has secured back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Online footage depict thousands of Los Angeles residents flooding downtown streets, many displaying handmade banners and team flags. The squad was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an interpreter.
The procession path ended at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began well before the procession, with supporters setting off fireworks in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
However, the team owner received a cooler reception at the celebration. Recordings from the event appear to show him walking onstage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The championship served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
