Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The team running the project have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a specific target,” a representative said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
