American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Strike in Eastern Pacific, Leading to Four Deaths
As stated by a high-ranking military spokesperson, the US armed forces carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
“A US joint task force conducted a deadly attack on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization in open sea. Intelligence verified the vessel was transiting along a known drug smuggling route and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were harmed.”
Background and Prior Actions
This announcement comes a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the US president accused Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and other crimes, pledging to increase the military presence.
Only on Tuesday, US defense officials said it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 military engagements have killed at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.
Government Defends Actions Amid Scrutiny
The administration has faced growing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a successful operation, saying it has prevented drugs from reaching US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of legal military action.
While the administration has said the campaign is about halting drugs headed to the US, comments from a senior aide appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical objective. In a recent interview, the chief of staff remarked the president “wants to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”
This suggests the series of strikes may be part of a strategy to oust Venezuela's sitting government.
